Flavoring vs Seasoning

Ever wonder what the difference was to flavor food vs. season food? Well, here is the short easy answer.

Flavoring:
Adding substances used in cooking to add a new flavor or modify the original flavor.


Seasoning:
Adding substances used in cooking to bring out a flavor already present.

You can season with different items from herbs to spices. There is a difference.

Herbs: The leafy part of certain plants that grow in temperature climates.

Spices: The roots, bark, seeds, flower, buds, and fruits of certain tropical plants.
